Meet Natasha

Natasha Currah is Sweat the Technique Studio’s founder and lead instructor.

Originally from Toronto, Natasha began her movement journey through yoga, amassing nearly 10,000 hours of experience teaching classes and training new instructors. Her early studies with respected teachers Ron Reid and Diane Bruni (Downward Dog Yoga Centre, Toronto), and Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty (YogaWorks, Los Angeles) laid the foundation for her deep commitment to supporting safe, sustainable movement.

Motivated to help her clients avoid injuries and move without pain or restrictions, Natasha became interested in biomechanics and how varied, focused and intentional movement can help build a stronger, healthier body. This led Natasha to study Functional Range SystemsⓇ, a comprehensive training system created by world-renowned musculoskeletal expert Dr. Andreo Spina that focuses on mobility development, joint strength, and body control. In 2018 she became a certified Functional Range ConditioningⓇ Mobility Specialist and she continues to integrate this intuitive method into her current practice.

Today, Natasha owns and operates Sweat the Technique Studio on Bowen Island, B.C., where she specializes in helping her clients expand their movement potential with confidence and care and fosters a community grounded in smart, challenging, and joy-filled movement.

FAQ

You asked, we answered. Below are some of the some of the most common questions we get about Sweat the Technique and mobility training.

If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to help!

Mobility and flexibility are not the same. Flexibility is passive—it’s about stretching to increase range of motion. Mobility, on the other hand, is active—it’s the ability to move through a range of motion with control and without compensation.

Every movement involves both passive (flexibility) and active (mobility) ranges. Passive range is achieved through stretching, while active range is where you can control the motion without relying on support or “borrowing” from other areas. Developing control within these ranges helps joints adapt and handle physical demands more effectively.

Improving mobility enhances joint health, prevents injury, builds resilience, and supports nervous system function. In short, mobility training helps you move better, feel stronger, and do what you love with more ease and confidence.
